Polar Bear/Oso Polar Circle Craft and Activities

February 27th is International Polar Bear Day! Did you know that polar bears can get as big as 1400 pounds and 9 feet tall?! Wow! To celebrate Polar Bear Day, we did the following crafts and activities:

First, my son made this polar bear craft that is also a learning circles activity I saw over at DLTK's Growing Together Website. I traced circular items I found around the house for the different body parts. I helped him glue the first circle on, but the rest he did by himself.
I made the mistake of leaving the black marker behind while I went to get the camera~ he decided that his artwork wasn't quite finished and added a few lines!

We also sang this fun Polar Bear Rhyme~ my son loved it! There is a part that goes "Polar Bear, Polar Bear, Wink One Eye" and this is a photo of him trying to wink one eye~ priceless!

My hubby read him the following book in Spanish- Oso Polar, Oso Polar que es ese ruido? Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear? is the English Version. My little guy has his own version of the book- it consists of a lot of "roaring" and other animal sounds.... lol!

I made this Polar Bear-shaped Snack for my son to eat. Isn't it cute?! It's just bread and cookie icing. For another snack, he had Polar Blast Hawaiian Punch and Goldfish Crackers.

We also made a Handprint Polar Bear! You can see it on my other blog.

The boys LOVE the Oso Polar, Oso Polar books. Good for you for reading them in English and Spanish! I love the craft too! Diego thinks that his Build-a-Bear is a Polar bear so he would love this one. Off to check out your handprint bear.....
