Upcycled Cardboard Box Car Craft ~ Art Playdate

How to make a Cardboard Box Car {Recycled Craft}
Last week we had another Art Playdate where the boys each made a Car from a cardboard box.

They are made from a box with the tape ripped off. Lay the box flat and cut the flaps off.

Gather different items to use for painting and get the paint ready. I gave them 3 different colors of paint that wouldn't turn a yucky brown when they all mix together.

Fun with Paint Kids Activity
This was definitely an outside craft! My son had a short attention span with the painting (he was more interested in running around... lol!) until I let him smear the paint with his hands. His buddy wanted a handprint on his car.... so cute!

We set the painted cardboard aside to dry and let the boys do a fun Toddler Stomp Painting activity in the meantime.

Recycled Box Car for Kids
My mommy friend and I cut and glued all the car parts; my son helped a little by painting the glue on the pieces. We used black construction paper for the wheels taped to a paper plate. For the headlights and tail lights, we used red and yellow craft foam. We also wrote their names on a rectangle shaped craft foam and placed it on as a license plate (blurred out in photos).

The boys played with matchbox cars while we were finishing up the cardboard box car.

Here is our finished cardboard box car! Our friend's finished car is in the 1st photo in this post.

Here they are "Vroom, Vroom, Vroom-ing" all around the apartment! The were too funny and all I could hear was "Beep! Beep!"  They seemed to like riding around in the same car together the most!
