Homemade Numbered Popsicle Stick Puzzles

Awhile back, I made a Numbered Dinosaur Popsicle Stick Puzzle that was a big hit with my toddler (as well as with the readers of this blog). I thought it would be fun to make him more using images of cartoon characters. I made the Mickey Mouse Puzzle you see above as a party favor for his Mickey Mouse Birthday Party (post coming soon) and made the rest as a fun, frugal stocking stuffer. You can see my tutorial HERE.

What he learns from these puzzles:
  • Being that he is a toddler, I made each puzzle numbered to make it more age appropriate for him. This also makes it a fun number sequencing activity and a great way to practice counting (which he loves to do!).
  • I made the numbers on each puzzle a different color for 2 reasons: so he could tell which puzzles were different and as a color sorting activity.
  • These are also a great way for him to practice his fine motor skills.

Supplies Needed:
4 x 6 image
Popsicle Sticks
Paintbrush (I used a foam brush to speed things up)
razor for cutting (exacto knife)
Paint or markers (for writing the numbers)
I stored his in a Ziploc bag; a small shoebox would also work.

Here are all the Numbered Popsicle Stick Puzzles I made for my son's Christmas Stocking:

Here are some Bible-inspired Popsicle Stick Puzzles that a reader made. She made them to take to church as a quiet, mess-free distraction for her girls ~ Thanks Laura!

Love this idea... I have 3 year old twins and one of them loves puzzles... even though this would be a little simple for him this would be great way to learn numbers, letters or give him box of mixed puzzels and see if he can sort them... awesome thank you
