My 3 year old is so into Learning to Trace lately. We usually practice on his Toulouse Lap-Trec. This time, he wanted me to write the alphabet outside. I wrote each letter & shape with pink chalk and he traced back over each with white chalk.

Thanks for linking this fun activity up at It's Playtime! My preschooler has yet to get into tracing - maybe I'll try this with him in the nice days to come outside too - and maybe he'll be more apt to get into it.
I hope you stop by and link up again next week :)

I love that you took your learning outside!! That's what it's all about :-) Thank you for linking up!
I never thought of tracing outside - great idea!
Great idea! This is so simple, yet a great way to introduce or reinforce handwriting. And it's always more fun when it's outdoors! Deb @ LivingMontessoriNow.com
Some of the simplest things are the best - great idea!!!
My group of kids loves to draw outside with chalk but I hadn't thought of having them trace with chalk. It's a great idea.
Love the idea using chalk and the sidewalk! Kids love variety... this is great!
Thanks so much for sharing this at For the Kids Friday Link Party! I will be posting the next party tomorrow night. I hope to have you stop by and join us for another week sharing great ideas for our kids!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Amanda, tracing is a great way for kids to learn and remember as well. If you have them trace the alphabets again and again, they will start writing them on their own.
We celebrated Earth's Day this week, did a craft and read a couple of books on Earth's Day - http://blog.memetales.com/2011/04/earths-day-kids-craft-and-books/
