How to make the Apple Hat:
The storyteller had a bunch of apples pre-cut and assembled beforehand as well as the hats. The hat is made with a thick, long rectangle with one end stapled to another long, thinner (in width) strip. The kids glued 10 apples on to each of their hats. When they finished, I placed it around their heads to mark the spot I wanted stapled together to create the ring part of the hat.
Little Sister (1 yr old) was bored after just a few apples while Big Brother was the last one to finish out of the group. He always has to have everything lined up nice and neatly! He was a little upset when all his apples didn't fit in one neat line.
Ten apples Up on Top is a super cute book by Dr Seuss featuring 3 animals trying to balance apples on top of their heads. My son loved it as a toddler and still loves it as a preschooler. It's a fun book for learning numbers!
Little Mouse's Big Secret is about a mouse who plants an apple tree and decides to keep it a secret. Page after page the apple tree grows and grows with a different animal asking each time what his big secret is. In the end, he learns that secrets are sometimes better shared and then gives each of the animals one of the apples that had fallen to the ground.
